Hit-and-run accident severely injures veteran

On Behalf of | Jun 20, 2013 | Truck Accidents |

A hit-and-run truck accident occurred Monday night, resulting in serious injuries to an Army veteran. The accident occurred in the neighboring state of Minnesota in Hinckley on Interstate 35.

The Army veteran was from Wyoming, Minnesota, and was driving a used truck that he had just purchased for his business. A friend was traveling with him when they apparently experienced some issues with the truck and pulled over to the side of the highway to have a look. This is where he was hit by another vehicle thought to be a dark-colored F-150.

The man was taken by life-flight to Essentia Hospital in Duluth where he remains in an unconscious state. He is suffering from broken bones and a head injury, as well as internal injuries. The family is devastated and is not sure if he will regain consciousness. He has a wife and a 2-year-old son.

The driver who hit the man stopped briefly and then fled the scene, although at one point, it looked as if he or she was going to stop again. The police believe the hit-and-run vehicle to be a 2010 Ford F-150 or newer. They are asking anyone who has any information to come forward. The father of the victim stated that it was bad enough that the driver hit his son, but even worse that he or she turned it into a crime.

Victims of car or truck accidents that are due to the recklessness or negligence of others should be entitled to compensation for their injuries. In cases where the victim is deceased, members of the victim’s family may be entitled to compensation for their loss and any medical or funeral expenses involved.

In instances like this one, the hit-and-run driver must be located before charges can be made or they can be considered a responsible party for the accident.
