Soft tissue injuries can have profound effects on your life

by | Feb 24, 2017 | Car Accidents |

When people think of car crashes that involve injuries, their thoughts are likely going to turn to life-threatening injuries. These aren’t always the ones that are present. In some cases, the injuries are less severe but this doesn’t mean that they aren’t still serious.

Some car accident injuries are soft tissue injuries that require medical care. Contusions, sprains and whiplash are some example of soft tissue injuries that can occur. In all of these cases, the injury might not be life-threatening, but they can impact the victim’s life in a profound way.

One way that these soft tissue injuries affect patients is by causing pain. This pain can range from a minor irritant to severe. In some cases, the pain requires medications would prevent the person from being able to drive or work. Other treatments, including physical therapy or occupational therapy, can pull the victim away from work and other activities.

Some soft tissue injuries, including whiplash, are associated with a decline in cognitive function. This could also make it difficult for the person to work in a normal manner. Without being able to work, the victim of the accident might be unable to pay bills or take care of normal life expenses. This means that they are at risk of losing their home, their car or other necessities that they worked hard to get.

If you are injured in a car accident, no matter how minor, you might consider seeking compensation. Determining the cause of the accident is imperative so you know who to hold accountable in your claim.
