Thanksgiving crash kills 1 in Saratoga

by | Nov 29, 2017 | Car Accidents |

A Thanksgiving Day crash claimed the life of a 66-year-old woman from Wisconsin Rapids in Sarasota. According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, first responders were dispatched to the area of Ranger Road and Pine Haven Court on Thanksgiving Day around 2:40 p.m. in Saratoga. The crash involved two vehicles.

A preliminary investigation found that a pickup traveling west on Ranger Road hit the driver’s side of a car entered into the intersection after stopping at a stop sign at Pine Haven Court. Police said that the driver of the pickup truck, a 45-year-old man from Wisconsin Rapids, attempted to avoid the accident but was unable to do so.

The driver of the vehicle hit by the pickup drive, the female, was transported to Marshfield Medical Center via helicopter from Spirit Air. The Wood County Sheriff’s Department said that the driver was pronounced dead at the hospital from her injuries. The driver of the pickup truck did not suffer any injuries in the accident.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing. Investigators do not think that alcohol or excessive speed played a role in the fatal crash in Saratoga. Investigators have also said that charges will not be filed in the accident. The identities of both drivers have not been released by the sheriff’s department.
