A Milwaukee woman dies in a crash with an alleged speeding driver

On Behalf of | Dec 29, 2017 | Car Accidents |

A crash, which occurred just after 9:20 a.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at the intersection of Locust and 27th Streets in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin, claimed the life of a 43-year-old female resident.

When police officers arrived at the crash scene, they were able to speak with witnesses who reported having seen a Dodge Ram driving southbound along 27th Street North shortly before colliding into the decedent’s minivan. Apparently, the pickup had crossed the roadway’s center line just moments before crashing into the northbound Chrysler Town and Country van.

All four of the van’s occupants were transported to the hospital from the crash scene. Although three of them only suffered relatively minor injuries, the van’s female driver arrived at the hospital in critical condition. She died while doctors were performing life-saving measures on her.

There was only one person riding in the Dodge Ram at the time of the crash. That pickup truck’s driver reportedly suffered serious injuries in the crash.

A Milwaukee police spokesperson notes that the investigation into the crash is ongoing, although preliminary evidence in the case points to speed as having played an important role in causing the crash.

When a speeding, drunk or distracted driver’s behavior is found to have played a contributing role to another driver or passenger’s death, an option to file a wrongful death lawsuit in the matter is often an avenue that can be pursued. In learning more about your own loved one’s case, a Milwaukee car accident attorney can advise you of your right to wage a claim for lost wages, loss of companionship, funeral costs and other expenses.
