Distracted driving doubles chances of an accident

by | Feb 23, 2018 | Car Accidents |

Most drivers understand by now that drinking and driving is dangerous, potentially life-threatening behavior. While drunk driving is still a serious concern for everyone on the road, many drivers fail to recognize distracted driving as similarly dangerous behavior.

Whenever a person decides to drive while distracted, the likelihood of that person experiencing an accident of some kind roughly doubles. Distractions in this sense include more than simply texting or using the internet on our phones while driving, which many states and cities already prohibit with state and local laws.

Distracted driving may also include drivers interacting with other people in a car, a driver who is crying or experiencing strong emotions or drivers searching the vehicle for something and taking their eyes off the road.

While many state and regional efforts continue to push the importance of remaining focused while behind the wheel, some drivers still take their duties while driving far too casually. Until the general public comes to understand the dangers of driving while distracted, many of these needless collisions will continue to happen. If you or someone you love suffers injuries in a car accident due to someone else’s distracted driving, do not hesitate to protect your rights in the matter.

An experienced attorney can help you review the events of the accident and build a complete claim to seek fair compensation for your injuries and other losses. With professional counsel, you can focus on the physical work of your own recovery, while the attorney represents your interests to insurance companies and medical care providers, ensuring that your rights and privileges remain secure.
